A 9-amino-acid peptide first isolated in the 1970s that modulates delta-wave sleep and has analgesic and stress-reducing effects.
DSIP's mechanism remains incompletely characterised. It influences CRH/ACTH axis regulation, delta-wave sleep promotion, and pain-modulation pathways. Crosses the blood-brain barrier.
